Kimberly S. Purcell
Kimberly Sheriff Purcell is an artist residing in the Savannah, GA area.
The medium in which she paints is mostly acrylics, but she also dabbles in oils, watercolors, and pastels. Kimberly takes an impressionistic approach to her artwork, and she often creates a textured style by using a palette knife to build up layers of paint. The subject of Kimberly’s works of art are varied, but most are of coastal subjects and seascapes, picturesque landscapes, floral arrangements, and pet portraits. Kimberly works full time as a travel consultant, however, painting has always been her one true passion in life. She began to pursue an interest in the arts over ten years ago by taking weekly art classes taught by Lydia Ellis. Under Lydia Ellis’ tutelage, Kimberly discovered that painting was something that she genuinely enjoyed and wanted to make a career out of. Kimberly decided to further her education by attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a concentrated focus in graphic design. During this time, she began to teach private art classes from her home studio in order to hone her skills as an artist, and to also inspire those looking to further their own artistic paths in life. The joy she found in teaching propelled her to open up an art studio in the small town of Senoia, GA. The studio ,Creative Canvas, forged the opportunity to imbue within many that they had the ability to creatively express themselves. The studio was open for 3.5 years and provided much joy.
As a multiple award-winning artist, Kimberly’s artwork has been featured in a myriad of locations, such as Barnes and Noble in Fayetteville, GA, the train depot in Fayetteville, GA, Clayton State University in Morrow, GA, Brenau University in Atlanta, GA, the Governor of Georgia’s Mansion in Atlanta, GA, and the Arts Clayton Gallery in Jonesboro, GA.
